How to choose the best stream after 10th class || Which stream to choose after class 10 || Prcc Career Makerz
Friends, I often come across posts on Facebook, sometimes WhatsApp status regarding confusion for a career. I am a professional career counselor for years and I would like to share some knowledge on it.The
problems faced choosing stream after the 10th
1. 1.Lack of Clarity
About Interests Problem: Many students are unsure about their interests and
strengths. They may feel pressured to make a choice without fully understanding
what they enjoy or are good at.
2. 2.Parental/Social Pressure: Many students face pressure
from parents, family, or society to choose a particular stream (often Science)
without considering the student’s own preferences or abilities.
3. 3.Fear of Choosing the Wrong Stream: Some students worry that if they choose the
wrong stream, they will be stuck in a career they don’t enjoy or will not be
able to switch fields later on.
4. 4.Inadequate Information About Streams: Many students
lack a clear understanding of the subjects, career options, and challenges
associated with different streams.
5. 5.Difficulty in Balancing Interest vs. Career Prospects: Some students
are passionate about subjects that may not traditionally offer high-paying jobs
(e.g., Arts), while others may lean toward streams like Science or Commerce for
better career prospects, despite a lack of interest.
6. 6.Lack of Confidence in Capabilities: Students may
feel they lack the ability to succeed in certain streams (e.g., Science or
Commerce) due to perceived difficulty.
7. 7.Peer Pressure: Students sometimes follow the stream choices of their friends or classmates rather than making an independent
decision based on their own interests.
8. 8.Confusion Due to Overlapping Career Paths: Many careers
can be accessed through multiple streams, leading to confusion about which
stream to choose. For example, business management can be pursued from both
Commerce and Science.
9. 9.Influence of Popular Trends: Students may be
tempted to choose a stream based on current trends or “hot” career fields
(e.g., data science, IT) without considering whether they’re genuinely
interested in or suited to that field.
10 10.Inadequate
Guidance from Schools : Some schools may not provide enough career counseling or
detailed information about stream selection, leaving students feeling lost.
